45th AGM of Sri Lanka – Japan Business Council of The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce
The Sri Lanka – Japan Business Council (SLJBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce recently held its 45th AGM, with the Ambassador of Japan and the Patron of the Council, His Excellency Hideaki Mizukoshi, in attendance.
Mr. Mahen Kariyawasan – Managing Director, Andrew The Travel Company (Pvt) Ltd., was re-elected President of the SLJBC for the year 2024/25. Vice Presidents elected were Mr. Ruwan Waidyaratne – Managing Director, Hayleys Advantis Ltd., Mr. Athulla R F Edirisinghe – Director, Hirohama Ceylon (Pvt) Ltd., Mr. Rohitha Mendis – Managing Director of Prudential Shipping Lines (Pte) Ltd., Mr. Chanaka Kariyapperuma – Proprietor, ASOL Traders, and Mr. Mr. Sarath De Costa- Managing Director of Amano Lanka Engineering (Pvt) Ltd. Mr. Merrick Gooneratne of Tos Lanka Company (Pvt) Ltd will continue to serve the committee as the immediate past president.
The committee consist of representatives from Brandix Apparel Limited, Dentsu Grant (Pvt) Ltd, Heritage Teas (Pvt) Ltd, Lanka Harness (Pvt) Limited, Venora International Projects (Pvt) Ltd, Spear International (Pvt) Ltd and Vidullanka PLC.
Most importantly, The Business Council was proudly honored with the Japan Foreign Minister’s Commendation Award for 2024, presented to the President by His Excellency Hideaki Mizukoshi. This prestigious award was given in recognition of the Council’s unwavering support in strengthening bilateral trade, tourism, and investment ties between Sri Lanka and Japan.
