44th Annual General Meeting
The Sri Lanka – Japan Business Council (SLJBC) of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce recently held its 44th AGM, with the Ambassador of Japan and the Patron of the Council, His Excellency Hideaki Mizukoshi, in attendance.
Mr. Mahen Kariyawasan – Managing Director, Andrew The Travel Company (Pvt) Ltd., was elected President of the SLJBC for the year 2023/24. Vice Presidents elected were Mr. Ruwan Waidyaratne – Managing Director, Hayleys Advantis Ltd., Mr. Athulla R F Edirisinghe – Director, Hirohama Ceylon (Pvt) Ltd., Mr. Rohitha Mendis – Chairman, Prudential Shipping Lines (Pte) Ltd., Mr. Chanaka Kariyapperuma – Proprietor, ASOL Traders, and Mr. Sarath De Costa – Chairman and Managing Director – Amano Lanka Engineering Pvt.
The newly elected President highlighted the Council’s efforts to foster business relations with Japan, including informational seminars and webinars aimed at providing insights to promote bilateral trade and investment between the two countries, including how best to leverage business opportunities in the two countries. In view of the Osaka Expo scheduled to be held in 2025, Mr. Kariyawasam stressed the importance of seizing such opportunities to enhance trading activities and strengthen economic ties between the two nations.
The Sri Lanka – Japan Business Council has played a vital role in promoting trade, tourism, and investments between the two nations.
